@Fml: That's what Amanda F`in Palmer has been proving with her "screw the record label" approach: if you offer people a musical/artistic product that they like, enough of them will pay you for it that you can make a living. Sure, many people will download it for free, which is fine, but others will vastly overpay (or pay thousands for private parties with Amanda, or for clothes she wore in videos, or whatever). In a sense, it`s the same model as cow clickers (micropayment games, like Farmville): most people pay nothing, but some people go crazy.

i saw her in Charlies Kitchen in Harvard SQ cambridge once, it was interesting cuz she was singing and i was like who the F- is that its really obnoxious, but if ur a rock star its more acceptable.

I don't like it. However, unlike most of the crap that gets posted here, there is talent involved. So, to be fair I`ll simply say, it`s not my cup of tea. I`ll also add that it`s good to see real music coming back, even if it`s something I dislike.
