It wasn't a case of "a doctor found it nasty to be touching women`s privates". It was about efficiency and perception. Powered tools of any kind were a new thing in those days, so using a vibrator would make people more likely to perceive it as advanced medical technology. It also made people more likely to perceive it as being impersonal. In both ways, the point was to frame it as a medical procedure and not just Doctor Prostitute and his reasonably priced handjobs.
