To be more specific the universe was created by the big bang, using the planetesimal theory you can explain how a planet was created so all the answers to the question were not specific enough! I study astrophysics so I know what I'm talking about! In 4 billion years due to expansion our galaxy, the milky way galaxy, will collide with the andromeda galaxy, so there is nothing perfect about that! our universe is so vast you all need to realize we are all insignificant in comparison. This universe ( the big bang could have created more than one) was not created for us! Just deal with it, you are not special! Religion is the opium for the ignorant!

I am a high school science teacher. And NOT religious at all. But science can't prove that there is NO God. But in a recent US News poll of 100 scientists belief in creation, 64% of scientists stated that it is MORE scientifically theoretical that the earth was created. As one scientist stated: ... "because everything on the earth is a perfect balance of creation. And no matter how many times you slam together clumps of metal at high speeds, it won`t produce a perfectly manufactured Ferrari. No matter how many times you try, with different speeds & temperatures, it will NEVER happen, not with 100 billion attempts. So the chance of earth, and living beings just EVOLVING from a crash-bang, is unscientific in itself."

@wolfguy423 you should care because if he is NOT at a religious school he's being taught wrong. You attribute the creation of the earth to God then you close the door to that child`s understanding of the remainder of science (not you personally, obviously). To go briefly Whitney, the children are our future. We are SCREWED if this generation are all taught the stuff that was being disproved back in the Renaissance. Congrats God-nut Teacher - you`ve just set education back 400 years. When the next meteorite hits (or whatever earth shattering catastrophe is destined to wipe out 90% of life on the planet) we won`t have advanced our scientific understanding far enough to a) avert it or b) evacuate the planet and survive it that way.
OK, OK, I`ve taken it to ridiculous extremes, but the point still stands that a lot of damage to the entire education system can be done by this kind of cr@p
