ferdyfred: They aren't `hooker boots`. They are thigh-high waders made for fishing. They also make chest-high waders for the same purpose. This way your pant legs, socks and shoes don`t get wet while fishing along the banks.
It`s evident you`ve not done a lot of fishing. many lake and river banks are steep and slippery, it`s better to wear a pair of these than get all muddy, they offer better footing too.
