In 6 months he still retains the core muscle mass, learned habits and stamina. Losing the weight and reverting back to a lifestyle he has obviously embraced all his life is going to be MUCH easier than someone who has fought obesity all their lives.

I did it, but I cheated. I was at 400lbs, health, life was in the toilet. I had RNY gastric bypass surgery and have lost 200lbs or so. Best damned thing I ever did.
