acidballroom - they do exist for us. sorry to burst your bubble but we NEED them to survive. we NEED to kill them for our safety.(deer on roads and such) if we were to do as you/peta claim and let them do as they please we wouldnt survive long. when was the last time you saw a hamster show happiness? it is not in their genes. they dont smile/laugh so how can you tell? also human happiness should be more valuable than livestock. i cant tell by taste that the cow im eating for dinner was happy or miserable so who cares. how about this, get a petition going signed by all of the animals on your side, then we can talk. until then i will continue to laugh at, taunt, and kill any animal i see fit. i will also see the testing on of said animals a necessary outcome of our evolutionary/scientific advances.
"There are people who ENJOY what she put herself through, so how bad could it be for animals?"
If you ask for it: BDSM. If you don't ask for it: abuse/assault/torture.
The consent thing is pretty damn important. It`s only that little thing that separates sex and rape.
And last time I checked, I`ve not run into a kinky non-human animal (furries aside) who was capable of saying "thank you sir, can I have another?"
"do you value an animal`s life above that of a human, how about a hundred animals` lives to a million human lives?"
Let me put the question back at you: do you value a human life over an animal life? What about the lives of individual humans...are they worth varying amounts? Is my life worth more or less your life? How do you calculate it, and who does the calculations?

Aren't your prisons crowded with convicted murederers, gangbangers, rapists, violent thugs and other scum? I`ve always been in favor of using violent felons for medical research like testing new drugs and training surgeons.

We should open up the possibility for inmates to volunteer for testing, both cosmetics and scientifically... Give them something they could do to give back to society, I suppose.
