Carmium, she's pretty, not anorexic! I don`t feel religion working for the "betterment of mankind" really worked out that way. Christianity, in particular, just seems like we`re trying to put off our own responsibilities on others. I don`t feel praying to some most-likely-non-existent god is very productive or helpful. It makes the individual feel better about his or herself, but it doesn`t present any tangible gain. Science, however, has increased our lifespans and generally, improved our quality of life. I`m sitting in air conditioning because someone invented it, not because someone prayed for it. Who says science doesn`t bring joy? It brings passion and love and wonderment to our world.

patchgrabber: But that's exactly the sense i`m using it, religion that works for the betterment of mankind, and despite all odds persists through love, honour, truth, pureness, and righteousness.
Without this, mankind will fall into a prejudical, hateful, and judgemental way, where even science will be used to further that.
We can see something like this happening today, even this thread, with it`s angry and prejudidal posts. Plus, look at how scientific advancements have brought us tablets and phones. But these devices are made for entertainment, and to earn money. It`s a testament to our time, because if science was truly guided as it should be, the focus would have the same zest for helping the deaf hear, helping the blind see, helping the lame walk, and helping the weak to be strong. These have taken a back seat in the pursuit of the $. Because science without religion is lame, and religion without science is blind.

photomstr: what's the alternative, hatred and prejudice your way? Religion isn`t going anywhere, those who can`t accept it will need to learn to live with it. After all science without religion is lame, and religion without science is blind.

"I really detest these spammers who take up 6 or 8 inches of comment space. And the girl in the photo below is an anorexic stick insect - does anybody really go for this junk?"
I'm sorry, what were you saying? I was talking to my new Chinese girlfriend.
