In all honesty, the theory is sound. Execution would be difficult, but if you are somewhere and in a situation where you need fire, and only have an orange, a rock and a stick, well I guess you make it work.

There is a chemical in the orange skin of an orange peel. It is flammable, but there is no way putting a rock inside and 3 seconds of friction with a stick will start it on fire.
