@earplay : USSR made their first at great risk, when the US were planning and making progress they were making stunts and almost killed half their cosmonauts

USSR had put at least two women into space before Sally Ride. Just sayin. Not taking anything away from Sally Ride or any of the American women that could have gotten into space sooner. That was a choice made by men. Besides, I'm never got above 50,000 feet.
