vv @Gerry1: You're a lucky guy to have had such a cool, exotic pet! They are adorable... until they rip your attic apart... (wild ones I mean).

5Cats - correct. You cannot tame a wild one, but if you raise them, male and female are great. The males will go independant. If you try to keep them when they're ready to leave they`ll get agressive so it`s best to just let them go when they`re ready. The females a good life-long pets. And they`re clean. Little shedding. Automatically litterbox trained but without the bad cat odor. cheep to feed - whatever you`re having.
But you have to child-proof your house. Their little hands can and will get into EVERYTHING. And they can climb to any cupboard height and some have learned to work combo locks. Very clever.

@ sutra - according to Wikipedia "roughly 97% of human rabies cases result from dog bites". Admittedly that's in the 3rd world not here. But any wild animal can carry disease. A tame racoon is a safe, wonderful, {high maintenance} pet.
