Stupid tautology is stupid. Of course if you carefully redefine "beautiful" until it applies to everyone by default...then everyone is beautiful. Unfortunately, the entire video was about physical attractiveness, not inner warmth or sense of humor or any of the other feel-good BS they trotted out at the end.

I call bullpoo . . . since the dawn of man, we are designed to go for the pretty girl. You can't fight millions of years of evolution. There is nothing wrong about teaching that beauty is only skin deep and a fashion model is out of most men`s league. You must love yourself before you can truly love another. The rest is just sex.

I think that when we look at the problem of beauty we're looking in the wrong place; it`s not the result of too much input distorting our own view of what is beautiful. As richanddead has stated, it`s a natural drive that tells us what we want. It has nothing to do with what advertisements tell us. These exist to entice women into buying products to make themselves more beautiful, i.e. superior to, their peers. This is nothing new; Victorian women bled themselves fair and crushed their ribs in corsets to obtain a beauty ideal. The obsession with thinness is a problem in our culture; this is a place where our perception of beauty has been distorted by our culture. In many cultures, very thin women are not considered attractive because it means they are too poor to afford quality food. In our society, obesity is linked to poor diet whereas thinness is viewed as an achievement that is difficult to obtain.
