To destroy your explanation... how do you justify a virus then? In a viral ecosystem (per se), they consume all they can find until they have expended all natural resources until they themselves 'die`. (I use the term loosely obviously)
Now take man... we are destroying the rainforests, using up all fossil fuel reserves, polluting the atmosphere... and inevitably we will consume everything until there is nothing left and we will all die out. Survival of the fittest?!

@Tay-Dor It's because of evolution we humans now have the choice to help OR hinder the extinction of ALL species on Earth, including our own.
Furthermore, the belief in evolution is not the same as "The strong prevail and the weak are weeded out." Educate yourself and you too might evolve.

@Tay-Dor, I think you misunderstand, evolution is a phenomenon that occurs in nature and "survival of the fitest" is a philosophy. No part in evolutionary theory does it say that a species going extinct is a good thing. It is simply a set of predictions based on observable evidence. Evolution doesn't demand species go extinct any more than gravity demands that asteroids destroy the Earth. It just predicts they will, we can choose to try to stop it if we think we can.
