@sutra64 "The definition of a nerd is a 'fanboy of substandard pop culture`" That`s not at all the definition of a nerd. "Nerd is a derogatory stereotype of a person typically described as socially-impaired, obsessive, or overly intellectual." - 3 second google search.

The definition of a nerd is a 'fanboy of substandard pop culture`. You would have to have some specific ability/ aptitude in maths & science. The current usage of the word is bunch of people who know popculture trivia like doctor who. And have spent the childhood playing games on the couch. hope that wearing Cool t-shirt and glasses are going to be enough to get laid. Grow up.

Well, unfortunately being a nerd has been glamorized by people like olivia munn who say they are/love nerds so socially inept young males will jack off to/fantasize about her and make her popular. I find it funny that she's dating a not much at all nerdy hockey player if she loves nerds so much. She`s just an example, the rise of computers and the ability to find entertainment alone has made appealing to socially stunted ppl rather profitable.
Imo maybe it`s cool right now to call one`s self a nerd, but I think soon enough the title will become a tired parody of itself where self-described nerds are recognized as ppl who dress up the fact that nobody likes them because they`re awful to be around by calling themselves `nerds` rather than accepting it and trying to not be such a loser to others.

It's still not cool to be a nerd. Good looking people with low intellience have figured out that by calling themeslves nerds & geeks (because they like comic books)they can make the general public think they have more brains that your average high-functioning moron. If you really ARE a nerd/geek, you`re probably not getting your knob waxed any more now than you used to. (By someone else, smart-ass).

Anybody remember the days when being a nerd or a geek got your ass beat? Seriously, I'm just getting over the childhood trauma of being a nerd to find out it`s cool now?
