Progress report: I updated IE and tried it. This has to be the worst piece of half-baked crapware I've seen since DOS 3.2. The instructions to import favorites were just wrong (they said the command was under the Bookmarks menu, but it`s actually under the File menu), and it wouldn`t work anyway.
Plus, the default setting for the Content Advisor kept asking me for a password for EVERY web page I visited INCLUDING MSN.COM! I was able to turn that off, but what fapping idiot thought this was a useful feature in the first place?
I gave up, and I`m back to Firefox. AVG always pops up a message that it`s using like 384Mb of memory, and I need to shut down and restart (which I never do), but aside from that, it does what I need, which Chrome does not, like case-sensitive page searches or opening media files without saving.

@Gerry: IE is probably the worst browser, partially because it's slower, but mostly because it`s not extensible. You can`t put adblock on IE.
