Dude - it's no surprise that the producers would have selected that song. It was funny watching people try to dance to it, treat it like any other accessible poppy beat. When you`re new on the scene you have to expose yourself to every possible venue. They weren`t selling-out, just taking the opportunity to do the above and holding up their end of the bargain in the process. If it doesn`t work out, you move on to a more appropriate venue and don`t make an ass of yourself along the way. This is what separated the NIN phenomenon from a lot of other acts during their 1988-2001 heyday.

Oh for crying out loud, everyone lip synced on TV back then, they still do it today. Who cares? This video is awesomely hilarious.
