"I don`t think they are racist" an honest opinion and sure racist people are probably kind hearted at times racism is letting race effect your judgement so it`s possible, does it mean because she knows them to be kind hearted in her experiences with them that it`s impossible that they are racists NO! of course not. Is she or any of the commentors claiming that`s impossible they they committed this hate crime no, she only suggested that that she does not know them to start trouble and there was more said led to the assault then what occurred not claiming that it`s impossible that it was a hate crime. In short being a character witness != a witness she does not know or claim to know what exactly occurred and nor does she speculate on behalf of the accused.
