Helix: It's possible that the celebration that gays display (in parades, for example) may just be a collective "breath of fresh air" for them. They have been told that they are sinners, unnatural, evil, etc. for a very long time in this country (US), and there appears to be a slow realization from everyone else that they aren`t so bad after all.

I have a 6 month old daughter. How would I react if she came out one day? I hope something like this: "Why did you feel the need to tell me this? Had you been heterosexual, would have felt the need to directly inform me one day? I love you no matter your preferences or inclinations. I'll tell you the same as I would have told any child of mine of any persuasion: Don`t date trash. Be careful. I can`t control your life outside of this house and I try not to dominate your life inside of this house, but please be careful. There`s lots of heartbreak, danger, disease and deception out there among boys and girls alike, but there`s lots of beauty, love, happiness and wonder, too. If you can`t tell the difference in a given situation, I`m happy and eager to talk with you so that we might be able to figure it out."
