@CrakrJak: "It just irks me about how these atheist people say they can explain everything with science, except for those inconvenient holes in their theories."

And it irks me when Christians try to fill those holes with God. All it does is create an ever-shrinking God of the gaps as science continues to fill in those holes.

"They say it as if we should just stop being skeptical and accept the 'reality` of flawed theories."

The theories are not "flawed". They work quite well, thankyouverymuch. Missing some evidence that helps nail down or confirm some details isn`t the same as being "flawed". Being flawed would require that it is wrong in some way, and I have yet to see the evidence for that.

Yes, they`re not confirmed down to the tiniest detail or comprehensive in all areas, but absurd goal setting aside, they work quite well when used in the domains they`re meant to cover.

For those who don't get what this has to do with Bill O`Reilly, he claimed, "Tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. YOU can`t explain that." Brassbull posted a link to a video where Mr. O`Reilly makes that scientifically illiterate claim.

culberto: I was first going to say 'religion has nothing to do with it`... but that`s completely wrong. Of course it does. It`s just interesting to me that religion and the bible have led some people so far away from what`s really in front of them. Why would god create a intricate, complicated, beautiful world for us to completely disrespect and destroy?? Wouldn`t god want us to learn about his world and theorize how it functions? I think so... it seems to me god-lovers should WANT to dedicate their lives to science and the love of his natural `gifts`. Why have the two strayed so far apart?

Also- I don`t think I`ve invented a reality that`s unrealistic, if there is a god- he is in the details, as the saying goes.

I think it's sad that people think there is a god. If you call your make believe friend in the sky with all those wonderful super powers "Steve" instead of god, they`d medicate you till you drool.
