Everyone knows books are alive. This is because of L-space!
The written word has powerful magical properties in the world, and in large quantities all books warp space and time around them. The principle of L-space revolves around a seemingly logical equation; it is an extension of the 'Knowledge is Power`: Books = Knowledge = Power = (Force x Distance^2) ÷ Time.

casidhe, I feel your pain. We once had dozens but they're closing one by one and now we mostly have the hellish Indigo chain. But at least we can order books off the internet. For now.

Monday, January 09, 2012 7:28:37 PM I live in a city in Australia where there is only ONE book shop and it isn't even a REAL book shop but a discount store with hundreds of Recipe books and NOTHING over 10 dollars !!!!The day the book shops died was the new beginning of a new "dark ages" (only without books people wouldn`t even know what the "Dark Ages" was !!!!)Not only will literacy continue to decline but without the consumption of new ideas in books our brains will dwindle too. My wails of frustration can be heard throughout the galaxy but If aliens arrive looking for intelligent life they won`t find any (except in the homes of those with books!....REAL BOOKS !...not a $5 "101 Winning ways with Chicken Left-Overs " or a $10 "I can Haz Cheeseburgerz")
