I'm not a massive fan of Jamie Oliver or anything but when he came to the USA with his healthy food for schoolkids campaign, the viewing public basically said `No, we don`t want to listen to you. We aren`t going to watch your programme. Go away` He appeared on Letterman to boost his campaign and was told in no uncertain terms that it wouldn`t work. I guess you can`t help people who aren`t willing to help themselves.

so just how many parents are dumb enough to know that berries aren't actually in a cereal with that name? that when a cartoon is on the box, the box is mostly sugar? when you have a rabbit, a bird, a small green man, etc, hyped on sugar so much so they run away to get a fix for themselves - it`s the parents fault not the companies that make it. they buy it, not the kids.

This video makes some very good, very lame, and mixed points:
The lame: "People try to sell food with sugar, salt and fat." Well duh, that's because those things taste good, thus sell well.
"Companies advertise their products." Of course! Companies that advertise get more sales than ones that don`t! And they have a right to do this!
The good: "Industries lobby against voluntary nutrition guidelines, etc..." Yeah, this is some damned sneaky BS companies try to pull. We need to let our congress persons know not to talked out of trying to educate the public.
"Truth in advertising is lacking." Yup!
The mixed: "Companies pull off PR stunts in our schools." Yeah, this kind of sucks, but with the crappy funding schools get, it`s a last resort for some schools.
The answer: Teach moderation. Junk food is OK in limited amounts, but proper diet and exercise education should be

Angry Rant time: I'm a step mum with four kids. I also work for one of these multinational junk food companies. (I`m not high up and this is my personal opinion) It is the parents decision on what to feed their kids. My kids might ask for a burger or trix but do they get it... NO. Very rarely do they get something sweet or junk food orientated. Parents are the ones to blame, they are your kids for f-sake they don`t control you, you control them stop being a f-pussy and stand up, if you can`t say no to your kids when they ask for a burger... GROW SOME BALLS. I know a kid who gets everything he wants and now at school no one wants to hang out with him cause he is an non-nice individual. Parents need to learn how to parent.
