i'm sorry, but that`s just stupid.
in a perfect world it looks good in cartoons, but really. yes, they will pocket the money. no people won`t go where it`s cheaper, they will keep the price the same and tell people you should spend more because we serve quality and they don`t.
the poor - which makes up so much of the country don`t pay the tax, so the they are exempt- so no money there. industry, many large ones don`t pay anything either, i doubt they will pay the 9%. small commercial couldn`t afford that much. and other`s can`t afford 9% on anything. it was bad enough they raised it to 7%. don`t see how it`s going to get jobs either. and where is the money for the government? they take all those cuts to remove the debt they made.
what about the wars we fight? all the money we give out? who is paying that? many will profit, but not the consumer, they lose the most since the tax went up.

I'd certainly like to see a much simplified tax system, the tax loopholes corporations get now means they virtually pay nothing, Like GE.
But adding a VAT and a national sales tax is mainly going to hurt low income people the worst and that`s really not fair.
Too simple is bad, too complicated is worse, there needs to be a fair and viable medium.

Lower their prices because of competition? Sort of the way all the gas stations are lower their prices to compete with one another? *rolls eyes*
