Whether you believe in the issue or not, I do remember that the State of California used to allow you to return a drivers license, or car license plate, free of charge if it contained any letter/number combination that equated to 666, based on religious objection. I no longer live in Cali, so I have no idea if this still holds. I know this, because my first learners permit had that number combination in it, and my mother made the DMV issue me a new number. Also, the US Social Security Administration will never allocate a SS# that starts with '666`.
I also recall that, in addition to skipping the number 13 when numbering floors, larger hotels in some countries skip over the number 666.
@Idlerlee2: It`s the European Parliament, not the United Nations. There are currently 193 member states/nations in the United Nations.

this whole thing is dumb
ok i can see why 666 would offend him, i wouldn't want to wear the sticker because what the hell difference does it make, is it a reminder of the tragedy 666 days ago? i would have an accident just to reset that number and i bet i would be fired for that too.
i`m an atheist and i find the whole firing unusual. i would bet that this person was a bible thumper and annoyed everyone so much that they were looking for a good reason to get rid of him but couldn`t do it because of that. the sticker was the excuse, though a real pathetic one at that, and i would sue them also. the world is just nuts.

I have the same issues with the number 43.
My god, whose name is Nigel (he doesn't like god being spelled with a capital g) told me it`s an evil number. I had to change my phone number because of it as that ended in 43.
