DON'T BE DUMB Light microscopes are only able to see THROUGH things. Solid and non-translucent objects are only black silhouettes. Secondly, the picture shows depth, which cannot be seen in a light microscope. Everything seen there is shown by a scanning electron microscope. ALL SEM images it portrays everything in black and white (only show shades) because the object is covered in a thin layer of gold. All colors you see in SEM pictures of viruses and proteins, in this case dust, are digitally colored to show different materials. I do acknowledge that dust is most likely not made up of all grey particles but this post is only about the shape, NOT THE COLOR. If it is, then they are wrong. Thank you to the few who are too well informed to think this is what color dust is. It worries me most days out of the week that people can be so uninformed.
