@DrProfessor, the Cult were played at loads of goth nights in the 80's (in the UK), although it was a bit at the rock end of things, and since Goth pretty much came out of punk originally you gotta expect a bit of crossover. Enough talking about the past tho lets just go to a gig somewhere and see something new.

Oh ffs. goth came out of many things that were stirring in the late 70s. bauhaus. siouxsie atb. The cure like the banshees, like mosy groups worth listening too are too diverse to confine to a narrow genre. Sisters of mercy, arguably the flag bearer of industrial goth rock crackled into life with "damage done" in 1980. The two stepping skinny black army were firmly in force by the black october tour of 1984 So if you werent there..or you were too busy whacking off to U2. Stfu!
