A friend of mine is blind, and he's explained this same problem to me.
Also, he says things like "can`t wait to see you" or "I saw a concert last night," all the time- even though he can`t literally see anything, he can still witness things happening around him. That doesn`t mean he has to figure out an entirely different way to express that than sighted people, though.

About the Canadian bills, the numbers (20,50,etc) are printed with ink that stands out (you can touch it, can't explain zZz).

@envisage, I am not blind, and I just checked out a one and a five. There are very distinct differences between the two based on the ink pattern. The one is more ornate along the perimeter, and that difference can be felt. I cannot say for the differences between the 10, 20, or 50, since I have none of those to check. I would imagine subtle differences exist between them all that a person can tell the difference purely by touch.
