SAT verbal scores fell this year because the test became more accessible to underprivileged students. That means more students in poo schools and more ESL students took the test, which lowered the average.

I wouldn't venture to say that we`re getting "dumber," just a lot more stressed. So many schools paint the SAT to be this ultimate life-decider of a test which determines your entire future. God help you if you do bad on your SAT`s, you might as well just give up on college and life because with those scores you`re never going anywhere. At least, that`s how it was when I was in high school.

So our standard for "smart" is how high someone scores on a standardized test? I don't know about that...
If this is true, this is a problem with education and not intellectual ability. I agree with CrakrJak that the Department of Education should be abolished; we should let capitalism do to education what capitalism did to food, computers and technology, and the automobile industry.
Also, I don`t think intelligence is strictly defined at one`s birth--I believe it is possible for one to get smarter or dumber. I think a smart person is someone who thinks and expands their mind more.
