I agree that it's cruel of them to induce distress on animals like this but these people probably come from one of the many areas in the US where lampreys are destroying aquatic ecosystems in lakes and ponds (they`re an invasive species). They even cause painful injuries to people at times. So basically to people that deal with them as a pest on a day to day basis, sea lampreys as expendable as roosterroaches are to people that live in urban areas.

excellent news! my house has been swarming with lampreys the past few weeks, didnt know how to get rid of them until now!

The fact that there are people on this site who disagree with this statement just goes to show how sad our race has become. Just because lampreys aren't pretty, it doesn`t mean that they can`t experience intense fear. What`s more, they don`t deserve to have to experience fear for our pleasure and derision. Shame on those for laughing at those who care about life.
