@CrakrJak - at the time, the British were the dominant power, the Americans would have been perceived as terrorists(rebels as the term of the day). History may have proven them right, and I do agree that there is a difference between freedom fighter and terrorist. My point is that the terrorist label is often applied to freedom fighters, in order to make their struggle seem illegitimate.

Would you call the people fighting against Qadaffi in Libya to be terrorists ?
Sorry, but the two words are not as interchangeable as you might believe.
