That would be where capitalism fails, it uses democracy against itself because they can afford to.
I kinda prefer the barter system, where you have a say in what your time is worth, and a say in what your willing to pay someone else. In North America we get told what were paid, and what we have to pay. I would think most would at the very least agree what they get paid and what they have to pay out and vastly out of proportion. If you work hard you shouldn't be in f`ing debt your entire life.

The taxation system in America is pretty damn complicated, and it would generally work better if they got rid of all the social engineering and stuck to a simple gradual rate per person. 15% of the first chunk of income, 20% for the second bit, 30% for the next bit, and as you hit the 500k and up bracket, 40% for that bit.
Maybe not exactly that, but something akin to that. With all the way tax breaks go, (General Electric didn't give a cent to the government last year) it`s pretty easy to cheese the system. So make it so simple and basic that it`s impossible to cheese. Like C++.
