Not that anyone is going to read this...
The idea of banning him from prom was simply to discourage the next person from trying to top it. They didn't care about the cardboard letters, they did care about what other students might do in the future and wanted to stop it before there was permanent property damage or injury.
The other reason for the ban... if someone fell and injured themselves then the school would have been liable for a lawsuit in this "lawyer-up get rich quick society."

the 0-tolerance policy bs for certain stuff is ridiculous. Some things (not all) should indeed be on a case by case basis; at the very least look at a few cases and when they're harmless like this, go ahead and let it slide.

9 months from now that kid is really gonna regret that sign. Until Mtv or E! offers them some sh*tty show that we have to click around for fear of seeing a fraction of it.
