They are caterpillars. There are about 2 million of them down in Zion National Park. That swarming is an oddity. Usually they just crawl anywhere on the paths and get stepped on in the millions.

Big spider on the window at work, played "Amnesia" for five hours straight, now this. So my options at this point are: 1. Go to bed and have bug-infested nighmares till five in the morning. 2. Make a pot of coffee, get a bottle of Kalua, and stay up all night with ten-thousand kitten videos on YouTube.
