@McGovern: I agree. The mandate was to uphold a no-fly zone over Libya. The reason was that Gadaffi threathened to use fighter jets against protestors. In my opinion the UN mandate was correct: these are the excact reasons that we have the UN; to stop imminent threats against large groups of civilians.
Things are getting out of hand, though - and some parties here are revising their support to Libya activity. I agree to that.
But you can't compare Libya to Iraq just like that. There are major differences: years of bombing Iraq`s infrastructure, causing a lack of water and electricity resulting in thousands of dead civilians is one thing. The use of uranium shells, causing cancer and deformed babies all over Iraq is another.
