@Angilion actually there are a few clauses still in statute that allow the reigning monarch to take complete control, should the government collapse or teh country be thrown into anarchy. A lot of people think that the governemnt would take over, but according to that law, the monarch would gain control and the governement would do his/her bidding. It's been that way for centuries. hell, go back to the 1500`s or 1600`s. Theres still a law from henry vii`s reign which states that a royal family member may not marry a catholic or anyone of catholic heritage. Should they do so, they will be immediatly removed.

jerdboy, youer wrong in so many ways. We know you are a royalist, but they are nothing but leeches off the state. If they truely didnt want to be royals, they would abdicate and/or pass a law stating that they have no powers in the UK, and will not milk millions off the taxpayer a year in upkeep. Hell, they kept saying years ago that the money from the taxpayer was to maintain the mansions and stately homes , except no member of public had any major access to them until not long ago. They are a relic of an era long gone. An illegal immigrant family from centureies ago, that came to this country and basically killed or tortured anyone who disagreed with them being in power. A look back through the history books will easily tell you that. But hey, i guess you should believe everything you are told by your parents huh.

All of you idiots who think we're paying for this: You`re right BUT the wedding will generate income far beyond the cost.
Also the royal family don`t choose to be royal, leave them the hell alone. Watch the Kings Speech and realise that its something you`re born into, or marry into out of love. None of them chose to be royal.
