The Environmentally Correct Hummer [Pic]. I`m sure this bumper sticker is ironic (which further proves what morons Hummer owners are).

@Angillion

As much as I normally agree with you, one example of such preparedness doesn't change what we are as a society... Its very likely that the oil reserves will be depleted before that technology is perfected. And it may even find itself in mothballs if they come to some conclusion that the technology is impossible to maintain.

But I still believe that humanity as a whole is an adapting creature, not a planning one...

Hummers use less oil over their entire life than a prius during its production. Look it up prove me wrong

taylor_stone:

The European nuclear fusion program started in 1973 in the full knowledge that it would probably take a lifetime and nobody working on it would see the project's completion.

The program is still on track. The success so far has convinced India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, the Russian Federation and the USA to join the program.

Humans can prepare and start work well ahead of time. It may not be the way things are normally done, but it can be done.

What Quackor said is actually quite insightful... As a society, we aren't PREPARERS... We are adapters. We will continue to rely on oil until the very last drop is spent, and only when we have absolutely NO WAY of attaining more will we move on to another source of power. So all this, "We have to start getting ready now" activism is POINTLESS... Humankind doesnt work that way and never has... You could tell an entire country they were going to be hit by an earthquake that will destroy everything in 30 days and they wouldn`t do anything about it as a whole until about a week before the event. Even some would continue to stay even AFTER the event occurs. This is human nature... And it will never change.
