I suppose if they were warned NOT to do this and they still continued then this is a reasonable punishment.
But $56?? You can find these in Value Village secondhand stores for $2.99.

Although I'm sure the kids probably didn`t mean to destroy the bathtub, it`s still a reasonably fair lesson.
My teenage sister has a JOB, and when she wrecked my mom`s car, she refused to pay to get it fixed OR to pay for the higher insurance. On top of that, she`s also still allowed to occasionally use the car when she wants.
So... yeah. I guess rather teach the lesson early than risk ending up with a child like my sister.
