weight of car compacted the snow under to be more like ice. either Someone hosed away the non compact snow or it might have rained ? it's even plausible that it stood there for so long all other snow melted by its own.
example: If you walk up and down a snowy path to and from your car for instance, you notice the walked on snow melts a lot slower and is harder.

Update: 74 degress when I left for work this morning at 9 a.m. ... but you guys enjoy that snow, but be carefull. I heard prolonged shrinkage can become permanent.
