Looks like iPhone is catching up to android...
Google goggles does this for free, but its not realtime - You have to take the picture and have it scan it.

i find that a bit too fictional, devices that can read text are hardly around and are very expensive, so one that can read text, translate it, and then image the text back onto the original image? on an iphone.. doubt it


Optical Character Recognition has been around for 80 years and mainstream for 50. It was available on PCs 20 years ago (you used a scanner to get the image to the PC) and a modern handheld computer has more processing power than a 1990 PC.

Automatic translation is available for free online and takes little processing power.
