"Shedule [sic] 1 drugs are so highly against the law that acquiring them for scientific research would be breaking the law."
I hope that was meant as a joke. It is definitely legal to use schedule I drugs in scientific studies. There have been experiments in the US involving marijuana since it was classified as a schedule I drug. Johns Hopkins conducted a study in which psilocybin (also a schedule I drug) was given to human test subjects just a few years ago. There have also been recent animal studies to test the effectiveness of ibogaine (another schedule I drug) for treating heroin addiction. Schedule I means that it has a potential for abuse and no recognized therapeutic use. Doesn't mean they can`t be given to people for research purposes.
