Crak, you missed what I was saying and still associate it with the religion.
From a different perspective, the religious leaders teach exactly as you just said. This builds in a person >>>a strong conviction against suicide.<<<
Indoctrination into the ass-hole group builds on those teachings but, plays on the person's already low self-value making them feel that: 1)Their low mood, resultant of [a low quality of life/a sense of extreme loss,] is divine punishment for some specific misdeed. 2)The ass-hole group is better than them because it is devoted to a divine cause. 3)Free will is the enemy of the divine cause. 4)They can earn an extreme reversal of fortune by complete devotion to the group ass-holes.
The set has shi# to do with the actual religions. Islam, Judaism and Christianity, each tell a person "Beware of false profits," specifically warning members against this set.

CodeJockey: Most Christians believe that all you need to do to get into heaven is confess your sins, Ask for forgiveness, and believe in Jesus Christ. You don't have to `earn` salvation by doing `good deeds`, But most Christians do feel the need too.
Please refrain from lumping all religions together and then making summary judgments of them as a group.
