Forgot to say...if you download something called WinPatrol, it shows you programs that are running, programs that are added to the startup menu, IE helpers, etc. It doesn't delete spyware, but it alerts you when your computer settings are changed or new programs are added to the startup list. It also alerts you when your homepage is changed and gives you the option to switch it back automatically. Very helpful.
