A god should be able to know your true intentions, even the parts that don`t appear on the surface and that you might be unaware of. I understand to an extent your idea of faith, as an ex-catholic, along with how the religion is set up to hold its followers. Anyway, why is faith a part of the equation? Does faith in God mean having faith that he exists? or that he will save you? I`m not prepared to discuss the semantics of trust and faith, but in your case it seems faith is the equivalent of leaping from a canyon and expecting to fly. Also, that mindset you despise; "...concept of absolute faith, then I feel sorry for you".You show some of it. Lastly, for many, the moral set that Abrahamic religions have don`t cut it. Therefore your situation doesn`t doesn`t apply to many. Some people have to make tougher moral decisions than others.

It's the exact same mindset of I must be right, and everyone who disagrees must be stupid. Btw, It`s a matter of faith. Not every thing requires scientific proof. If you are incapable of grasping the concept of absolute faith, then I feel sorry for you. Besides, I can either stick by the morals I already have and live my life devoted to a God that may exist, and when I die, reap the rewards for that, or I can live my life by the morals I already have, but not believing in god, and if it does all happen to be true, suffer for it after death. Yea lemme see.... which sounds like a better choice.
