Actually it's not gas that`s being burned. The ground itself is on fire. The same thing is going on in the area of the US where Pensylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio meet. It`s coal that is burning. Started the same way here too, huge gas fire and then the coal started. If I remember correctly, they say here in the States it`ll continue to burn for the next 200 years. I`d imagine it would be probably just as long there.
