Just about every job in the civilian world has a military equivalent that you can learn. Learning to operate a tank may not transfer over, but being a medic or logistical expert does. Ex-Military helo pilots are in incredible demand and can make incredible money, as are linguists. The military also teaches men and women a certain sense of discipline and organization that can be used to further any life goal. If you take any job in the military and add the cost of your training to your salary (which still doesn't include base housing and shopping privileges) people in the military make a lot of money.
And to anyone who thinks soldiering is a low profession; remember that it has been soldiers throughout the history of the entire world, dying in the worst of conditions, living without their wives/husbands, living without their infants knowing their faces, who have made your disrespect possible.

It's nice to see that I wasn`t the only person who actually supported our troops. Seems that after I commented everyone hopped on board the "nationalism train."

"I think it is great this solider used a little humor to make this Iraqi fellow feel a little more at ease while they conducted the search of his vehicle."
