Davy: Yes, health care is horrendously expensive in the US, but that's not due to a LACK of government ownership and control; it`s BECAUSE of it.
Some things that make it so expensive are:
1) States mandate that policies cover all sorts of expensive stuff like in vitro fertilization, marriage counseling, "alternative medicine" quackery, drug rehab, and free or low-cost checkups and screening. Also, it`s illegal to shop for a better deal across state lines.
2) Juries can award huge jackpots for punitive and non-monetary damages. Malpractice insurance can cost over $250k/yr. Doctors order unnecessary tests just to cover their asses.
3) Most services are paid by 3rd parties, so patients don`t care what anything costs. "Sprained ankle? I want an MRI!"
4) Medicaid and Medicare pay only 70-80% of cost, so providers have to jack up the price to everybody else to make up for it.
No that's not true. Medical bills pile up, yes. Here`s the thing.
Federal law says that medical bills cannot affect your credit. ALSO; medical bills, no matter the size, fall off your record after 7 years (like bankruptcy).
I agree that this is no way to live, but to say that with no health care that you will die/ not get help, is preposterous.
Here`s a simple solution. Get a job with health care. If you don`t/can`t get a job with health care, get medicaid. If you are making too much money to get medicaid, cancel the cable, quit smoking, and go buy a personal policy. (I just saved someone 600$ a month! :))

@auburnjunky that may be true but they save the persons life, or try to in some cases, and the patient and or family members get slapped with a bill for it later. whether that money comes from a paycheck or other means, they still have to pay.

This too will fail. Just wait till all your parents retire and your tax rates fly through the roof. Social security is in trouble. Do you realize 48 percent of american pay no federal tax. That will change. This program will fail, it makes no sense. America is on the cusp of failure, tottering on the edge. When we go down, so will the world. Yeah China even more so.

You guys finally figured out why Bush's numbers were so low. He wasnt a conservative. CIA operative, how funny. She was married to a diplomat, went to diplomatic functions. Ya, bet she secured some real secrets, prolly the kind of misinformation they want us to believe. Just like when her husband went to Nigeria.
