It was for the SNES as well, not N64. And Segas downfall with the Sega CD, which I actually liked, was another player in the reasoning of Nintendo pulling out of the deal.

Actually, as much as I love Nintendo, Nintendo actually stabbed Sony in the back, and decided that going with, what i believe was Phillips (double checking atm), to make the CD attachment was a better proposition. "Phillips" got all rights to the system and therefore did not need permission from Nintendo to release games, and was the reason for crappy releases, like the horrendous Zelda CD games.

Not trying to tell you your wrong, just upgrading your knowledge.
