Pretty means different things to different people. While I think they look ridiculous and trashy, (Well, I think the "style" of everything most teens do/wear/look looks ridiculous and trashy) they probably think they look pretty great.
And good, let them think that. And then in 20 years, they'll be saying what the teenagers of the 80s say about their style now: "What on Earth was I thinking?!?!"
