There is actualy a historical reason behind people treating their left and right hands differently though In medieval times the left hand was the one people used to wipe their asses, so they used their right hand for everything else If i was going to slap somebody and they turned their head forcing me to use my super special awesome golden hand....i'd just kick them instead

Baalthazaq Male, 18-29, Asia 4753 Posts	Thursday, February 11, 2010 12:11:29 AM Incidentally "Turn the other cheek" is a lot more loaded than people think. Most people think it means "If someone slaps you, turn away". It goes further though, technically meaning "If someone slaps you or tries to slap you (on your right cheek) let them slap your left". The reason for this is that someone wouldn't slap you with their right hand, because it is the holy hand. They`d only slap you with their left. Thus by showing them your other cheek, you are forcing them to use their "Holy" hand, and you force them to think about what they are doing. Basically "Go ahead, if you think this is the right thing to do, slap me with your holy hand". Most religious Jews at the time wouldn`t. It`s basically a free lesson in morality you`re handing out, not just a "don`t fight back".
