The flag, to some, DOES mean pro-slavery. I'm not denying that there are those people in the south. There are some, though, to which the flag signifies a historical and ancestral connection and nothing more. It`s not right to generalize an entire group of people just because of the flag they fly...or stick on the tailgates of their trucks...or tattoo on their shoulders. Personal belief as to the flag`s meaning cannot be determined by the flag itself. It`s a symbol, which, just like most symbols, can mean many different things.

KKK is a scary group of people. No, it is not ok to own a human being just because they are a different color or from a different country. I do know however that the war was not based on slavery.

Okay Paaahka, what does it mean to carry that flag? I think the picture probably illustrates what it means quite well.

as an irish person i was led to belive the american civil war was about taxes and an economic chokehold on the south and its trade and that the abolition of slavery was just used as an overriding excuse to simplify the issue, not that it wasnt a valid one also...anyway the photo looks Russian to me...

Anyone who denies that the conflict over slavery was a major cause of the American civil war is ignorant or delusional.
