Mantis, how many hunters do you know that go bird hunting with a scope?

Based on his pump shotgun and point of aim, as well as his attire he was hunting game birds.

Also in close range shooting as well as when using any weapon with iron sights, you use both eyes to maintain depth acuity and situational awareness.

Mantistador - I keep both eyes open when I look through open sights or a scope, allows me to sight in my target faster. Also, he was fowl hunting, not many shotguns have a scope, again shouldn't be much of a problem for him, he should have a twitch reaction to aim right for it without sighting in as you would on a long range shot.

The real tragedy was that he lost his right eye and he`s right handed. Which is where his scope would be located if using a rifle.

As tacky as this may be even in the most safety focused organization all it takes is one act of carelessness to cause a preventable injury.

The guy who fell in the hole should have held onto the pipes.
