Anyone else besides me think that the Mayans just finally looked at everything they did and decided to be the Pranksters of History by just saying, "Yanno what? Screw it...let them figure it out. This should be funny as hell anyway."

I agree with Angillion. Never trust someone who gives a simply solution to a complicated problem as they usually are forwarding an agenda.
Throughout history, as we know it, there have been individuals who attempt to create imperative or sensationalism in regard to a situation to make their own involvement seem to have merit. They feed off of the fear they create. Environmentalism, welcome to the new religion and your indoctrination.
420,000 years ago was certainly before homo sapiens. So was 325,000 years ago. And 240,000. It's rather unlikely there were industrial revolutions then. Or 125,000 years ago. A small number of hunter-gatherer humans wouldn`t have had an industrial revolution.
Climate change is real, but much more complicated than it`s often made out to be.
We`re fed one single factor as being the sole cause. No, worse than that. We`re fed one tiny part of one factor (CO2 from technology) as the sole cause. That is politically motivated bullpoo for people to gain power and raise taxes.
